Actor Vijay Sethupathi is fondly addressed as ‘Makkal Selvan’ among fans because of his affable nature and versatile acting after director Seenu Ramasamy gave him the sobriquet. Now, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, one of the busiest actresses in Tamil cinema, has been given the moniker ‘Makkal Selvi’.
Varalaxmi will be seen in a heroine centric film titled Danny, where she essays the lead lady as a tough cop who has a Labrador for company. Directed by Santhanamoorthy, the first look poster of Danny was released recently on Varu’s birthday. They were put out by actor Jayam Ravi on his Twitter handle. During the shoot, many local women thronged the spot to interact with her. She also helms the Save Shakti initiative that aims to empower women. And she was very approachable and hence the makers of Danny decided to give her the ‘Makkal Selvi’ title.
On her birthday, Varu along with her mother Chayadevi and 32 volunteers from Save Shakti announced that they were donating their organs. She also takes care of the education of 10 underprivileged kids. The actress is also keen to enter politics, but only in a few years down the line.
