Tamizhisai asks kids to call parents Amma' & Appa'
Even as Superstar Rajinikanth was advising students to learn English, around the same time, Tamizhisai Soundarrajan, state BJP president was heard insisting that “parents should not cultivate the habit in children to be calling them ‘Daddy’ and ‘Mummy’ at home. She said this at the unveiling of Tamil album Ezhuvai Tamizha. The album, produced by Angayarkannan and directed by Kaalingan, hails the Dravidian language and reinforces the idea of being proud of as a Tamilian and not be seen shying away from speaking in Tamil. The guests included Tamizhisai Soundarrajan, lyricists Piraisoodan, Snehan, Tamil scholar Balu and national award winner Manoharan.
Tamizhisai disclosed that her parents were fond of Tamil, and hence named her after the language. “Those days no sooner they come to know of my name they ask whether I belonged to DMK.” She quickly added, “Just because BJP is a national party, it is not against Tamil. When BJP comes to power in TN, we would promote the Tamil language. “
