Kiran, who belongs to a fishing community, forayed into tinsel town out of passion. He is a former assistant to art directors Suresh, Nagaraj and is someone who has worked with Rajiv Menon on hundreds of his ad films. He is a noted face as an actor, today. This is all thanks to ace director KV Anand, who gave him an opportunity to work as an art director in all his films.
Kiran did art direction for some critically acclaimed films for art direction like Ko, Anegan, Irandam Ulagam, Mayakkam Enna, etc. He also doubled up as an actor in few of his films.
“Though I have done small roles in several films, it was Dhanush sir’s Velaiyilla Pattadhari, which brought me to forefront. Then, I acted in Kathakali with Vishal sir and Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum with Vijay Sethupathi. The councillor role in the recently released Vijay Antony’s Yaman, got me lot of appreciation.”
The actor says he is happy that KV Anand has given him a solid role of a police officer in his upcoming flick, Kavan, besides doing the art direction for the film. “I am sporting a new look in Kavan. I am concentrating more on acting now and want to do varied and substantial roles, irrespective of the remuneration they offer,” quips Kiran, who also has Suriya’s Thaanaa Serndha Koottam in his kitty.
