Visaranai to be remade in Telugu
The award winning Tamil film Visaranai, directed by Vetrimaran is now being released in Telugu as Vicharana by Kalpana Koneru, who bought the Telugu theatrical rights a long time ago. The winner of several national and international awards and accolades, the film is based on a novel written by M Chandra Kumar.
“It's an award winning film and is related to the Telugu people too. It explores the dark side of our society and is based on a true incident,” explains Kalpana.
When asked about the timing of the release, she says, “Good films need a good date and with not many films releasing at present, I decided to release it now.”
The original version shows four Tamil boys landing in police custody in Guntur on false charges. The film, which shows the inside workings of the police department and its links to political parties, won critical acclaim for its depiction of reality.
