Madras HC rejects plea against online Singam 3 release
Chennai: The Madras high court has dismissed as withdrawn a writ petition which sought a direction to various agencies of the state and central governments to restrain the Internet Service Providers Association of India (ISPAI) and its members including Bharti Airtel from indulging in online piracy and infringement of copyright pertaining to the Tamil film S-3 throughout the country and abroad.
Justice T.Raja dismissed the petition filed by K E Gnanavelraja, producer of S-3.When the petition came up for hearing on Monday, when the judge pointed out that it is a civil suit matter and a writ petition cannot be entertained, the petitioner opted to withdraw it. Granting liberty to the petitioner to agitate the matter before the appropriate forum, the judge dismissed the petition as withdrawn.
