Bala lauds Irudhi Suttru' director
National Award-winning filmmaker Bala openly admitted that he got to learn a thing or two about direction, after watching Sudha Kongara’s Irudhi Suttru! We hear that the Avan Ivan director literally broke into tears after watching the film!
Bala said, “I don’t know anything about boxing, yet the movie touched me. I remember seeing films based on cricket and hockey, but I have never felt this emotional on watching a movie based on a sport — Irudhi Suttru was an exception!
The movie was perfect in all aspects; casting-wise and emotion-wise. Also the screenplay and music deserve a special mention.” He added that these kinds of movies should be given their due respect.
On debut actress Ritika Singh’s performance, he said, “She was brilliant as Madhi and her onscreen presence reflected Sudha’s real-life fiery personality.”
Heaping all praise on Madhavan, Bala said this was one of his best performances till date.
The filmmaker felt that Irudhi Suttru, was in fact, better than the American sports drama, Million Dollar Baby, the all-time boxing classic.
Interestingly, Sudha has worked as an assistant director to Bala in one of his films. But he humbly concluded, “Sudha has made her mentor Mani Ratnam proud.”
