Who does not kiss on-screen now?: Kriti Kharbanda
Kriti Kharbanda rose to fame with her Bollywood debut in horror thriller, Raaz Reboot, although the film received a mixed response. Now, with Bruce Lee, she is foraying into K’town.
Talking about her first break, which was in Tollywood, she says, “I actually wanted to run away from Bengaluru for some reason. When the offer for the Telugu film Boni came by, I just grabbed it!” (laughs)
Moving on to Kollywood, she says, “I was waiting for the right break in Tamil. I always feel Tamil movies are content driven, as well as, they shine in commercial cinema.”
Commenting on the general perception that she has no qualms appearing in sexy outfits, she giggles, “Anything wrong with it? If it looks good and is sensitively portrayed, I don’t mind.”
Even as we start talking about her lip-lock scenes in Raaz, Kriti retorts, “Who does not kiss on-screen these days? For me, kissing is a way of expression and emotion. Though I was initially sceptical, when I understood the situation, I was convinced. But, I am not for those that are forced into the script.”
Talking about the role she plays in Bruce Lee, she says, “I play a tomboy — a lot like me in real life. Most of my friends are boys and I roam around with them.”
On co-star GV Prakash she quips, “He is a riot on the sets. Along with Bala Saravanan, he pulls my leg since I do not know the language. He was very
comfortable to work with.”
As the topic steers towards her favourite hero Suriya, Kriti says, “From the day I watched Kaakha Kaakha, I fell in love with both Suriya and Jyothika. They were so real on-screen. I see them as an ideal couple!”
To choose a script, she feels it’s the director that is very important — “Also, I have no preference for any language, because I don’t know what God has in store for me. I choose the best from what I get.” She signs off saying that everyone should fall in love. “I am a firm believer that if it is made for you, you will find it,” she laughs and takes leave.
