Poorna is determined to go all out, when it comes to choosing varied roles. She essays a hearing-impaired pregnant lady in Mysshkin’s Savarakathi and we hear she is ready to sacrifice her lovely tresses and go bald for her upcoming movie Kodi Veeran, a rural entertainer, which is directed by Muthaiah and has Sasikumar as the hero.
When we contacted to confirm the report about tonsuring her head, Poorna retorted saying, “Even I heard similar news. I am yet to join the shoot of Kodi Veeran. I honestly do not know the elaborate details of my character. But all I can say is that I was told that I am undergoing a total image makeover of a village belle. Also, I am aware that there are two more heroines, Sanusha and Mahima Nambiar, beside me. I am looking forward to it.”
On her T’town flick, Rakshasi, which is a sequel to the horror-entertainer Calling Bell, in which she plays a mother of two kids, she says, “Actually, the suspense factor about who the ‘Rakshasi’ will be maintained till the climax. My role is quite unusual and I accepted it since the script written by director Panna Royal was scintillating.”
Savarakathi, with directors Ram and Mysshkin, was very challenging, she says — “It was tough as I had to carry nearly four kgs of false belly throughout the shoot. I am confident that it would fetch me huge appreciation.”
A trained dancer since the age of four, Poorna is proficient in various dance forms like Bharatanatyam, Mohiniattam and Kathakali, and western dance forms as well. “I am passionate about my first love — dance. Gone are those days where filmmakers made movies that have their prime focus on dance. I would love to work in a film, where my potential as a dancer is completely put to use.”
Poorna now has Sathuranga Vettai 2 and Ammayi in her kitty.
