A film on Tasmac protests
Manishajith, the popular child artiste-turned-heroine, has rechristened her name as Rehana for better prospects. After playing Sarath Kumar’s daughter in Gambeeram, Manishajith was offered lead roles in several films and went on to do projects like Kamar Kattu, Nanbargal Gavanathirkku and Vindhai. Her long-pending film, Thirappu Vizha, is now ready for release and the actress seemed to be thrilled that changing her name has worked in her favour.
Directed by Veeramani, a former associate of ace filmmaker Hari, it has Jaya Anandh from the prestigious acting school Koothu-p-pattarai, making his debut. A chance watch of one of the stage plays by Veeramani has landed Anandh in films.
Talking about the film, the director says, “The movie touches upon the topical issue of people protesting against the opening of Tasmac shops across various districts. I have also added a few real protest shots in the movie.”
