Dev is about living the moment

The movie is directed by debutant Rajat Ravishankar and has Rakul Preet Singh teaming up with him for the second time.

“Dev is a love story, but it isn’t about romance. It is a film that speaks about loving everything around you. Live the moment, love and do what your heart says is what Dev is all about. Dev has lots of elements that will be enjoyed and discussed by contemporary youngsters,” says actor Karthi while speaking about his upcoming film Dev.

The movie is directed by debutant Rajat Ravishankar and has Rakul Preet Singh teaming up with him for the second time. “Dev Ramalingam is a very positive and mature character. He is slim, yet energetic. A lot of new age romantic films lack depth in characters. When Rajath narrated the line, I was very impressed. I took it as a challenge and signed on the dotted line. I also shed several kilos to look my part,” Karthi reveals.

“Dev is brought up by his appa, played by Prakash Raj sir, and for him money is not important. He is inclined more to get new experiences and upholds strong relationships. On the contrary, Meghna (Rakul) is highly independent and brought up by her single mother, essayed by Ramya Krishnan. She is a headstrong millionaire who worked hard to come to where she is. Most of our films end when the hero and heroine say ‘I Love You’ but here, the story begins only after they express their love.”

The actor praised his co-star Rakul Preet as to how she worked like a production person involving herself in every aspect on the sets. “Rakul is a great performer and she has breathed more life into the character.”

On Harris he said, “Each time Harris Jayaraj scores music for my anna Suriya, I used to wonder as to when I would get an opportunity to work with him. I am happy it is happening now, and his music is the biggest strength to the film.”

Produced by Karthi’s close friend Lakshman of Prince Pictures, the travel film with visuals by ace Velraj is hitting the marquee on February 14.
