Glamour is not my forte: Sri Divya
Sri Divya who had a good 2015 with hits like Kakki Sattai and Eetti is very excited and she has a reason to be so! Her first-ever remake movie Bangalore Naatkal (Bangalore Days in Malayalam) has just hit the screens. Sri was seen in a mixed mood, like a school kid waiting to see the exam results!
“I watched the original version of the movie with my friends, even before I was approached for the Tamil remake, and I loved it. All the characters have done a superb job in the original — especially Nazriya’s role was a super hit. I was very hesitant to sign the movie, as I have never attempted a remake, since comparisons are bound to happen. Director Bhaskar said that it was the real challenge, and insisted that I take it up. And today, it has paid off,” she gushes.
The Varutthapadatha Vaalibar Sangam girl claims that she gave her 100 percent to the movie. “I improvised a bit and brought my own style to the character Divya Raghavan. Dubbing my own voice helped me with the right expressions, thanks to my co-directors who guided me in this effort.” Accolades are pouring in from all quarters for her alluring performance and dubbing her own voice. The pretty actress known for her homely roles says that glamour is not her forte. “For me, glamour means looking good and gorgeous. Here in cinema, glamour means skin show and if that’s what you are asking, I am not comfortable with skimpy clothes. Even my fans do not wish to see me in such glam outfits. If you noticed the Kakki Sattai songs, I had opted for modern clothes. I don’t mind such things,” she asserts.
There’s a talk in the industry that she’s being pricey. “Really? I think I demand only what I deserve. Do not expect me to get the same salary, which I received for my debut movie even now,” she laughs. Sri Divya’s kitty is full with four projects in the pipeline now — including Marudhu with Vishal, Kashmora with Karthi, and a film opposite Jiiva, for which Atlee has written the story and screenplay.
