Tamannaah signs Pelli Choopulu remake
Tamannaah seems to be on a roll signing films back to back. After Devi(L), the Kaththi Sandai actress announced that she plays the role of Kangna Ranaut in the Tamil remake of the Hindi film, Queen — which will be helmed by Revathy. She also has Adhik’s Anbaanavan Asaraadhavan Adangaadhavan and Rajamouli’s Baahubali: The Conclusion.
We had earlier reported that Gautham Menon has bagged the rights of Telugu super-hit film Pelli Choopulu, directed by Tharun Bhascker. The film starring Vijay Devarakonda and Ritu Varma is a refreshing take on modern day love story. Pelli Choopulu was lauded for its subtle yet gripping screenplay.
The latest update on the film is that producer Senthil Veerasamy is turning director with this remake in which Tamannaah plays the lead. Confirming the news, Tamannaah says, “Yes, I am doing the Tamil remake and I am excited to be a part of it.” Also, a source reveals, “Since the film has more acting scope for the heroine, we have roped in Tamannaah to play the role. Currently, the pre-production is going and we are eager to finalise a hero for this untitled film. We are considering three leading heroes for the remake. An official announcement will follow soon.”
Producer Senthil Veerasamy, who bankrolled Rajathanthiram is also taking the acting route with Gautham Menon’s Enai Nokki Paayum Thotta starring Dhanush and Megha Akash. Senthil is playing the villain in ENPT, which is in the last stages of production.
