Vikram confesses he’s a fan of Kamal Haasan

While I picked up Varumayin Niram Sivappu, the other two had chosen Vaazhve Maayam and Tik Tik Tik.

At the trailer launch of Kadaram Kondan, Vikram looked blissful. The actor, who plays the titular role in the movie, went on to reveal that he was a big fan of Kamal Haasan and that he’d come into the industry watching his movies right from school days. “I studied at Montfort School in Yercaud, where we watched one English film every week. And during national holidays, the house captains were allowed to choose Tamil films. During one such holiday, we all went to the market and I asked two of my classmates to pick up two video cassettes and I picked up one. Much to our surprise, all of us selected Kamal Sir’s films.

While I picked up Varumayin Niram Sivappu, the other two had chosen Vaazhve Maayam and Tik Tik Tik. Such was the impact Kamal Sir had on my generation,” said Vikram.

The Anniyan star added smiling, “I always tell this. I want to act in the remake of KamalSir’s 16 Vaydahinile. But I don’t think I would do justice to what he did to the Chappani role even at that very young age. It is a big honour to work in his banner. I accepted the film even before listening to the script because of one thing: the ‘Kamal factor’.”

The actor calls Kadaram Kondan a slick and stylish thriller that still retains its nativity. “I loved the role, which had an alluring feel to it. Akshara and Abi have done a great job too.” Kadaram Kondan, which released as Mr KK in Telugu, is also the 25th film for which Mohamaad Ghibran composed the music.
