Pudhusa... team fondly recall late Kalabhavan Mani's commitment

Mani's last film in Tamil was Pudhusa Naan Porandhen, which is directed by Majid Abu.

Noted Mollywood actor Kalabhavan Mani, known for his versatility, was equally popular in K’town as well. The late actor, whose sudden death is still under investigation, won accolades for his negative role of constable Perumal in Kamal’s Papanasam released last year. Now, we hear that Mani’s last film in Tamil was Pudhusa Naan Porandhen, which is directed by Majid Abu.

Biyon, who has acted as a child actor in several films, including roles such as the younger version of Sarath Kumar in Thenkasi Pattinam, turns hero with PNP. While Kalyani Nair from Kerala plays the female lead, Kalabhavan Mani appears in the vital character of a cop.

Recalling how Mani was a committed actor, Majid tells DC, “Mani sir’s portions were shot in Kodaikanal. While shooting for a crucial sequence where Mani sir was to come out of a water tank and fight the baddies, he was suffering from high fever. I wanted the shoot to be called off and rescheduled. For his stature, he could have easily taken a break. However, being the dedicated actor that he was, he did not want to put the unit in trouble and completed the day’s shoot. We were touched by his gesture. This was his last acting role in Tamil. It is painful that he is no more when PNP is hitting the cinema halls on July 8th.”
