New film shot in ‘Single Frame 3D’ technology

Having researched in the technology for more than five years, Sivakumar procured the special camera from Germany.

PK Sivakumar, a cameraman and theatre owner from Tirupur who has made the film Kadhal Uthirum Kaalam is trying his hand in new technology called ‘Single Frame 3D’ and releasing his next titled Unmayin Velicham.

The sci-fi suspense thriller which touches upon politics and patriotism features Nizhalgal Ravi, Thilak, Vijay Adhik, Keerthi Krishna, Sangeetha and Glorina.

So, what’s this single frame 3D technology all about? “It gives the same 3D effect but at a lesser cost. The Single frame 3D allows a better depth to the visuals. The time taken to complete a shot in 3D camera will be around four to five hours. Whereas, here it is relatively easy and thus the budget is also lessened. The biggest advantage is that the film cannot be pirated. So the producers need not face piracy menace which is always a threat to box-office prospects,” says Sivakumar.

Having researched in the technology for more than five years, Sivakumar procured the special camera from Germany. Besides producing and penning the story, screenplay and dialogue, the director has also taken the onus of editing, music and lyrics. The Multiplex and Theatre Owners Association has recently awarded Siva for his new technology, used in Unmayin Velicham, which is hitting the screens on May 10.
