Ajith is a multi-faceted personality — skilled bike rider, car racer, good cook and great photographer who also loves aeromodelling. The buzz is ‘Thala’ is joining the faciulty of the Madras Institute of Technology (MIT) as a helicopter test pilot and UAV system adviser. He has agreed to do this while he finds spare time. And guess what his salary would be — just Rs 1,000 per visit. This is just a token payment to the star and he will be giving it back to MIT for education of poor students.

When we contacted a source close to the actor, he confirmed the news, saying, “Ajith sir has been visiting MIT for the past one and a half months and discussing with them. He received his official appointment from MIT only on Thursday”.

Given his expertise in the line, the Billa star will be a consultant for the particular project which is to do with facilitating medical help like transporting of organs in a short time and these unmanned drones can be put to use for effective transportation in crowded cities as well as remote areas.

Ajith, who is to commence shooting for his upcoming film Viswasam with director Shiva from May 7 after the strike got over, said, “I felt honoured and humbled being part of this venture from esteemed organisation”.

Celebs grace SIFWA launch

The South Indian Film Women’s Association (SIFWA), an initiative by women working in Tamil cinema for the welfare of women in the Tamil film industry, was launched with much fanfare. Several ace filmmakers and actors made it to the occasion to endorse their support. P.C Sreeram, Sathyaraj, Pa. Ranjith, Revathy, Rohini, Balaji Shaktivel, Pushkar Gayathri, Ambika, Sacchu, Saroja Devi, Prem, Vivek Prasanna and Sunil Kumar were among the film folk who graced the event.
