When it comes to courting eyeballs and controversy in equal measure — actress Gehana Vasisth can’t be far away. The siren first made news when she was selected for the Miss Asia Bikini pageant, then followed it up by being cast in ‘Savita Barbie’, the film adaptation of India’s first online sex comic, Savita Bhabhi.
While the movie in itself received a lot of flak for its subject, it also made Gehana the face of a infamous pornographic character — but an image that she had no qualms sporting. Now, she is all set to enter Kollywood next with S. J. Suryah-Sshivada Nair starrer Iravaakaalam, no less!
“Yes, I play one of the second leads in the film directed by Ashwin Saravanan. I’ve been a huge fan of the filmmaker after watching his horror flick Maya — so when the call came, it was a no-brainer for me to say yes. I have four to five important scenes in the film, as well as a sizzling dance number with SJ Suryah, which we canned at a posh hotel in Chennai recently. I’m hoping this will open up many offers for me from the Tamil film industry, which I follow ardently — I’d love to work with the likes of Ajith and Nayantara one day, both of whom I love,” quips Gehana, who admits her role will add a lot of glam quotient to the movie.
On working with director-turned-actor SJ Suryah, whose Iraivi has made him a bankable lead star, she says he was a total ‘dream’. “Both Ashwin and Suryah treated me like family, and I had such an enjoyable time on set. Though it was a short schedule, it was a truly memorable one.”
Gehana, who has also appeared in other Hindi and Telugu movies, concludes saying she is also hoping to a make a mark with her next webseries that she’s currently filming, titled Love, Lust, Greed.
