While independent music is still a niche field, and smaller in India compared to what it was in early 90s, the talented Sreejith has been successful in his attempt to promote his indie albums. He made a huge impact with his maiden album Yuvvh, in which Nivin Pauly and Nazriya were featured in a video — and his original songs and score for Kamasutra 3D were contenders for the Oscar list in 2013 — now there’s no looking back!
His recent album Dhunn in Hindi, about the seven shades of love, was released recently in the city. “Dhunn means Rhythm, and the ‘Rhythm of love’. It comprises seven songs, which are about the seven shades of love. The Hindi pop album is a fusion of western classical and jazz,” he said.
An interesting fact about Dhunn is that it’s the first Hindi album releasing in Chennai with celebs including singer Sujatha and Gangai Amaren, and those who rendered songs in the album like Sooraj Santhosh, Shashwat Singh and Roshni Suresh gracing the occasion!
