After Suriya’s film Singam 3, which dealt with medical waste, another young director Hari Uthraa has come out with one on a similar theme. Kaltha revolves around the dumping of medical waste across Tamil Nadu.
Speaking about the film, the director says, “Kaltha brings to fore the need for every individual to be aware about the crisis happening around them. This isn’t completely based on a true story, but is deeply influenced by real life incidents involving medical waste deposited in areas like Nagercoil. My story is set in a fictional village and there’s a political angle too.”
Siva Nishanth and Antony of Merku Thodarchi Malai fame play the male leads. Ayraa and Divya are the female leads. Appu Kutty, Gajaraj, Rajasimman, Tiger Thangadurai, Suresh and Kaaka Muttai Sasi are the supporting cast.
