Gautham Karthik, who was in hibernation after some of his movies failed to do well at the box-office, is now back with a bang. He recently completed Kannan’s film Evan Thanthiran and quickly moved on to his next with debutant Arumugakumar, a former assistant to Balaji Tharaneetharan, which is yet to be titled.
Arumugakumar reveals, “Gautham essays a college student who hails from a middle-class family in this romantic adventure-comedy. The story, which begins in the city, travels to a different world which is set in a forest. These unique experiences that Gautham has to endure forms the crux of the plot.”
There is another hero, who is yet to be finalised, he adds. “There’s no fantasy involved. The second hero will appear in the forest segment.” The young filmmaker says that he researched extensively in the forest areas of south including Srisailam in Andhra, Ooty in Tamil Nadu, as well as forests in Orissa. “We will be shooting in different forests across various states. We are looking out for a heroine who would be a performer, as the story revolves around her. The commercial entertainer will be a visual treat in terms of packaging,” he claims.
