Vijay Sethupathi and Nithya Menen are coming together for the first time for a Malayalam film directed by debutant Indhu V.S. Interestingly, the movie has been titled 19(1)(a). It was officially announced by the makers on Wednesday. This is VSP’s second outing in M'town after Marconi Mathai.
The title is apparently a reference to Article 19(1) (a) of the Constitution of India, which guarantees to all citizens the right to freedom of speech and expression. The theme is likely to deal with related issues.
Indhu has reportedly said the Vijay Sethupathi heard the narration and signed the film more than a year ago. Nithya had also given her concurrence then. The pandemic and subsequent long lockdowns forced the postponement of plans to start the film earlier this year.
After the government of Kerala gave permission for shoots, the crew has been canning indoor scenes. The shooting may progress in full swing now, a source in the know revealed.
Produced by Anto Joseph, 19(1)(a) features Indrajith Sukumaran and Indrans in the supporting cast. Govind Vasantha of 96 fame scores the music. Cinematography is by Mahesh Madhavan.
