Raghava Lawrence in Rajinikanth's shoes!

Yes, you heard it right! Lawrence has bagged the remake rights of Moondru Mugam.

Several actors in the past have tried getting into the shoes of Rajinikanth for the remake of his 1982 cult classic blockbuster Moondru Mugam. In the film, the Superstar essayed a triple role with aplomb, which included the iconic police character of Alex Pandian! But all of these attempts went in vain. Now, finally, actor-choreographer-filmmaker Lawrence has managed to grab its remake rights. Confirming the news to DC, Lawrence excitedly tells us, “I will be portraying all the three roles besides producing it along with S. Kathiresan. As of now, I am working on fine-tuning the script. Only then, can I decide the rest of the cast and crew.”

Being a filmmaker himself, he does not have anyone in mind to wield the megaphone for the remake of MM — “I will go in for someone who would handle it skilfully and make it a rocking commercial entertainer.” Talking about how he succeeded in getting the remake rights, which has not been possible on many earlier occasions, he elaborates, “It’s with the blessings of Lord Raghavendra. I even spoke to Rajini sir and informed him about reprising him in Moondru Mugam. He was very happy for me and blessed me. That gave me more strength and confidence.” He admits that he is nervous taking on Rajini’s character and that too in a triple role — “Yes, I know my responsibilities are very huge and expectations would be high as I am playing a triple role for the first time. That’s why, I am doubly careful about doing the new script while retaining the core essence of the original.”

Interestingly, Lawrence has also wrapped up his flick Motta Siva Ketta Siva, in which he is said to play a corrupt police officer (opposite to MM) who later reforms due to a personal catastrophe.
