Annanunkku Jai, the political satire directed by debutant director Rajkumar which has been in the making for quite a while, is finally set to see the light of day. The film features Attakatthi Dinesh as the lead, and Mahima Nambiar, who has been paired opposite him, plays a makeup-free local ponnu.
Speaking at the event, award-winning filmmaker Vetrimaaran, who has produced Annanunkku Jai under his banner Grass Roots Film Company along with Fox Star India, said, “Rajkumar was the winner of Naalaya Iyakkunar Season 2, and I was impressed with his short film. He joined me as an assistant when I started the pre-production work for Vada Chennai. One day, he narrated the story of AJ to me and said that he had Dinesh in mind for the lead role. Dinesh’s energy is like a tsunami, and that’s the biggest plus for the film.”
“AJ is a very special movie to me. I have been watching Dinesh and Rajkumar from their initial days, and have witnessed their evolution. The film talks about the bond shared between a father and a son who wants to fulfil his father’s dreams. It’s a cross between a comedy of errors and a political satire,” he added.
Addressing the delay in the film’s shoot, Vetrimaaran said, “You have to wait for things to happen. When you’re a filmmaker or a scriptwriter, you face a lot of challenges while making a film. And when you produce it, you have to put in an extra effort. Now, we have a good film on hand and I am confident of its success.”...
