Rajinikanth's Twitter hacked, then retrieved
While Superstar is still in the news for the phenomenal success of Kabali, it was a shock for millions of Rajinikanth fans, as well as his family members when the actor’s Twitter account @superstarrajini was hacked by unknown people on August 2nd!
The hackers modified his account to follow more number of people, and displayed their pictures and Twitter handles. They also tweeted a cryptic message from his profile — “Rajinikanth #HitToKill.” (sic)
The list of celebs the culprits started following from Rajini’s profile included SRK, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Aamir Khan, Kamal Haasan, Shankar, Raju Mahalingam, Thanu, and Riaz K Ahmed among others.
In a quick move, the digital company that handles Rajini’s account retrieved the credentials before any lasting damage could occur. When DC contacted Rajinikanth’s publicist Riaz, he confirmed that it was indeed alarming when they came to know of the issue.
“His family members informed the agency which takes care of his social media account about this — who then took necessary steps to fix the problem and retrieve sir’s original handle. Now, everything is under control.”
Rajini’s daughters Aishwarya and Soundarya also wrote about this on their social media handles. Aishwarya wrote, “@superstarrajini appa’s account was hacked..handle retrieved. Thank you all :) #All s Well.” (sic)
Other celebs who fell prey to hacking
Shahid Kapoor
The Udta Punjab actor’s Facebook account was hacked last year in September. He took to Twitter to inform his fans and followers on the issue. “My Facebook account has been hacked and will be restored shortly. If you see anything ambiguous please know it’s not me,” he wrote.
Amitabh Bachchan
Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan was in a state of shock when he learned that his Twitter account was hacked and it appeared that the star was following porn sites! However, little damage seemed to have been done to the veteran actor, who immediately “unfollowed” all the sites.
Shruti Haasan
The actor’s Twitter account was hacked by unknown predators in 2013, but she quickly regained access to it before much damage could be done.
Manisha Koirala
Dil Se star Manisha Koirala’s Facebook page was hacked and random messages were sent from her account in July 2015. The 44-year-old actress, who is active on social networking sites, warned her fans about the hack through Twitter.
Hansika Motwani
Hansika’s Twitter account was hacked in 2012 and the actress had to contact the concerned authorities to get her account back. Fortunately, no lasting damage was done.
