Trisha is a thorough professional: Sundar Balu
Actress Trisha is perhaps an unconventional choice to star in action revenge thriller Garjanai, directed by debutant Sundar Balu. However, the director asserts, “Garjanai has a commercial theme which would fit for a mass hero, but mass appeal is no longer limited to just heroes. Trisha has a fit body and the right attitude to pull off the film.”
Further, he reveals that it was the strong content that made the actress sign on the dotted line. Describing the plot of the film, he shares, “Trisha plays Madhu, a western dancer who goes to Kodaikanal along with her lover, essayed by Amit Bhargav for an event, where she gets trapped. How she takes revenge on her detractors forms the rest of the story, which happens during the course of one night.”
Trisha has reportedly performed several daring action sequences in the film. “There are several high-octane stunts and Trisha wanted to do it without a body double. In fact, her introduction begins with a fight sequence, where she has to dive and jump on a glass pane. There are several action blocks but they are not over-the-top. She uses her brain to overcome obstacles,” says the director.
Heaping praise on the actress’ professionalism, he narrates, “The movie was mostly shot at night. It rained heavily the day before we landed in Kodai, and although the rains stopped, the place was full of leeches! It was a scary sight. However, since shooting was already slotted, she was ready to shoot without a murmur. There were even times when she was badly hurt, but being a thorough professional, there were no complaints from her.” Balu adds, “Trisha would always come well prepared for the day with continuity, mood and timing.”
Though the film release is delayed, he is confident that the content will be fresh and lapped up by the audiences. Released through SDC Picturz, the film also has Vamsi Krishna, Vadivukarasi and Sriranjani in supporting roles.
