Title inspired by character in Mani Ratnam movie

Rumours are rife that Amutha may be inspired by a real life personality known as ‘Aavi Amutha'.

Amutha is a musical-thriller written and directed by PS Arjun starring Sriya Sree and Aneesh Shaz in the lead with Levin Simon Joseph, Ashna Sudhir and Assisi Gibson in the important roles.

Talking about his film, Arjun says, “When I began writing the script in 2016, I just jotted down as to how the film opens and how it ends. And later, I developed the whole script with what I experienced in real life.”

 

On the title, he states, “The title-character name is inspired from the name of the lead character of Mani Ratnam's Kannathil Muthamittal. I wanted a ‘character name’, which is not common yet, quite familiar”.

Rumours are rife that Amutha may be inspired by a real life personality known as ‘Aavi Amutha’, a medium who reportedly used to interact with souls of dead people and who has also appeared in a number of TV shows. “No, it is not a ghost story and my answer should suffice to end the speculation.” AS
