Beauty queen set to wow celluloid

The actress received compliments for her performance and has now signed two new Tamil films.

Actress Iraa, who won the Miss South India fashion pageant in 2015, made her entry in Tamil cinema with director Kannan Rangasamy’s Dhaayam. The actress received compliments for her performance and has now signed two new Tamil films.

Speaking about her entry in films, Iraa says, “Usually, I have a good sense of dressing and I always carry myself well. My friends pushed me into modelling and I won the Miss South India pageant held in Coimbatore. I started doing a lot of commercials and represented many brands. That is when Kannan approached me after seeing one of my commercials.”

Now, Iraa has been roped in for a strong role in director Youreka’s Kaatupayya Sir Indha Kaali. “I play a bubbly girl who hails from Madurai. The character comes to Chennai to become a heroine and she is really a fun person to be with. It is a thriller film with all the necessary commercial elements and I have a lot of scope to perform in the film.” Newcomer Jaivanth plays the lead role and ace lyricist Vairamuthu has been roped in for this film.

Apart from this, the actress has signed yet another film which will commence in July. “I won’t be able to reveal any details about the project now. Half of the film will be shot in the US. I am eagerly looking forward to this film, which has an ensemble cast. The makers are now finalising the cast and crew,” she concludes.
