We all had a good time following the antics of stand-up comedian and Master of None actor Aziz Ansari when he visited India recently. Ansari’s updates on social media of his family attending weddings and his general amusement at the goings-on made for some epic reading.
However, now in a new video released by The New York Times Style Magazine, Ansari reveals just how hilarious his Trivandrum experience was — as he recounts his knowledge of the Tamil language!
From conversing in his native tongue to coconut vendors (Mmm... romba tasty!) to explaining some popular catchphrases: Yamaadi (oh my god!), idhu ennadhu pa? (what’s going on right now?), idha paarunga pa! (look at this), and chaapaad venum (I want food), the comedian has a blast!
Of course, food is something that drives Ansari’s world round, and he ends up at the famous Hotel Mubarak Restaurant finally, where he digs into a typical Kerala meal — and ends up encountering someone who tells him he has pirated Ansari’s TV show! Yay, India.
