Kaithi to have a Hindi avatar

Will Lokesh clinch a Bolly deal?

It is official! Karthi’s hit Kaithi is going to Bollywood. The Hindi remake is being bankrolled by Dream Warrior Pictures (who made the original too) along with Reliance Entertainment. The endeavour marks Dream Warrior’s foray into Bollywood.

Talking to DC, S R Prabhu of Dream Warrior Pictures confirmed that they are taking their next big step of producing quality films in Hindi. “We have not finalised the lead star for the Hindi remake. We are considering a few actors. The decision will be made taking into account the sensibilities of North audiences”, he said.
Kaithi, which was a hit last Deepavali, was directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj who is presently busy wrapping up the Vijay-Vijay Sethupathi film Master.

The brilliant way it was made, and sterling performances by the whole cast, including Karthi, plus the quirky theme sans a heroine or songs, contributed to Kaithi being much talked about.

Asked whether Lokesh would be debuting in Hindi as a filmmaker, Prabhu was noncommittal. “Let’s see! Lokesh has other commitments to honour”, was all he would say.

However, our sources reveal that in all probability, Lokesh won’t let go the opportunity of foraying into Bollywood.
