Thulam is an upcoming film talking about drug addicts and how college students become victims of a drug racket run by anti-social elements. Newcomers Nivad and Deblina Chakki from Bengaluru play the lead. “I did quite a bit of research on true cases of drug addicts before finalising my script and how his/her life changes drastically since becoming a drug addict.  There’s a big message in it,” claims its director Raja Nagajyothi.

While yesteryear hero Shiva of Eeramaana Rojave fame makes a comeback in a crucial police officer’s role, others in the supporting cast include Manobala, Bala Singh, Ponnambalam and Mona Bindre. Gana Bala has penned a song and also sung and acted in the dance number. Producer Vijayvikash, who also dons greasepaint as the main villain, says that noted lyricist, late Muthukumar, has written the lyrics for a song.
