After Jyothika and Jayam Ravi who got the titles of Kamal Haasan’s hit flicks namely Magalir Mattum and Tik Tik Tik, now Sibi Sathyaraj’s film has got the title of yet another blockbuster of Ulaganayagan. The actor’s next film has been titled Sathya, which was a 1988 blockbuster starring Kamal Haasan and Amala.
Pradeep Krishnamoorthy, who rose to fame with his debut directorial venture Saithaan with Vijay Antony, wields the megaphone.
While Ramya Nambeesan essays Sibi’s love interest in the crime thriller, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar was brought on board to play the key role of a cop in Sathya. Sibi’s dad Sathyaraj, through his home banner Nathambal Film Factory, is bankrolling the film.
Speaking to DC, Sibi says, “We took proper permission from Kamal sir for using his film’s title — Sathya, as it was produced by his home banner Raaj Kamal Film International. We thank him for the same. Moreover, like sir’s film, this is also high in action and hence we thought it would be appropriate to use the powerful title.”
On the movie being speculated to be loosely based on Tollywood hit mystery thriller Kshanam, the director says, “It is not the exact remake of the Telugu movie. Retaining its core essence, I have added lot of elements to suit the local flavor and nativity. Sibi’s character’s name is Sathya in the movie — this is also one of reasons we opted for Kamal sir’s title.”
