Vikram in an earlier interview to DC confirmed that he is essaying the crucial character of Chola King ‘Aditya Karikalan’ in Mani Ratnam’s historical period drama Ponniyin Selvan, based on epic novel with the same name. And Mani has already started shooting for the magnum opus at Thailand forest areas, which is going in full swing.

Meanwhile, a blast from the past from Chiyaan has taken the Internet by storm. Interestingly, one of his vintage photos where Chiyaan has modelled for the brand ‘Chola Tea’ sporting the look of a Chola Prince is going viral. And the amazing coincidence of the Ravanan star portraying a Chola King in eminent filmmaker Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan has created a huge buzz.

Fans are going bonkers about the rise of their matinee idol from ‘Chola Tea’ to ‘Chola King’ now in PS.

Vikram is presently busy with a few projects including his 58th flick Cobra in Ajay Gnanamuthu’s direction.

Meanwhile, the makers have shared the first look of PS on their twitter handle and captioned it ‘Are you ready to witness the beginning of the golden era on the big screen?’. The poster has a shiny sword bearing the jumping tiger symbols, signifying the emblems of Chola Dynasty.

Ponniyin Selvan has an ensemble cast of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, Sarathkumar, Aishwarya Lekshmi Rahman, Ashwin Kakumanu, Lal, Riyaz Khan, Arjun Chidambaram, and Mohan Raman amongst others in prominent roles. Bankrolled by Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies, while AR Rahman does the music, Ravi Varman is behind the camera.
