Keerthy Suresh to play Savitri
Keerthy Suresh, who is awaiting the release of the Vijay-starrer Bairavaa, on Pongal, is on a roll. Recently, the actress signed Suriya’s Thaanaa Serntha Kootam, Vishal’s Sandakozhi 2 and a Telugu film with Power Star Pawan Kalyan in the lead. In just four years, she has managed to act alongside several A-list actors.
Now, it is said that the actress has been finalised to essay the role of yesteryear actress Savitri in a Tamil-Telugu bilingual, helmed by Nag Ashwin. A source close to the actress’ camp reveals, “She has given her nod for the film, but is yet to sign on the dotted line. Keerthy is in London and would be back in the country on January 9. She is expected to seal the deal after her arrival, which will be followed by an official announcement from the team.”
To be titled Mahanati, the film will chronicle the life of the actress, even after her days of glory on the silver screen ended. Also, actress Samantha will be donning an important role in the biopic. Sources say that the story will be narrated from her perspective.
The film is tipped to be made with a whopping budget and the filmmaker is currently finalising the rest of the cast and crew. The biopic will go on floors in mid-2017.
Savitri stepped foot in the industry in 1950 with a Tamil-Telugu bilingual titled Samsaram, and went on to be part of several hit films like Kalathur Kannamma, Kappalottiya Thamizhan, Kathirunda Kangal and several more.
