Wax statue of Vijay Sethupath as Ayya' to promote film
His statue is not yet figuring in Madame Tussad’s collections. But a wax statue of Vijay Sethupath, the most happening actor in Tamil cinema who is touching a milestone with Seethakathi to be his 25th film, was seen gracing a city mall. Instead of resorting to the usual rigmarole of promotions, the makers of Seethakathi have chosen to be different. In an unconventional manner, they have put up the wax statue of the actor from his role in Seethakathi as Ayya Aadhimoolam, an elderly theatre artiste.
Speaking at the event, director Balaji Dharaneetharan said, “Though Ayya Aadhimoolam is a fictional character, he will kind of represent all contemporary stage artistes. You would know when you watch the film. We have seen wax statues being made for individuals. It is heartening to see that a wax statue has been made for a character created by me.”
Concept artiste and designer Viswanath Sundaram, the brain behind 2.O and Baahubali series, has designed Vijay Sethupathi’s Ayya Aadhimoolam statue. The film’s makers have announced that tickets for the premiere show of Seethakathi, to hit the theatres on December 20, will be issued free for 100 people who take selfies with the wax statue and send it to them.
