With her award winning performance as a hearing impaired pregnant woman in Savarakatthi behind her, actress Poorna takes a cop avatar in a film titled Ivanukku Engeyo Macham Irukku. Actor Vemal and Ashna Zaveri play the lead pair in this comedy caper directed by AR Mukesh.
Speaking about the story, Mukesh says, “It’s a light-hearted subject and will go well with all types of audiences. Initially, we were looking out for a male actor for the cop’s role. When we saw Poorna’s bob hairstyle, we thought we would cast her in the role of a sub- inspector in IEMI. And since it is not a serious cop in this fun filled entertainer, Poorna did not require the routine preparation that is required for a police role.”
Ever since Poorna tonsured her head for her part in Kodiveeran, she says she has been approached a lot for cop roles. The actress will also be seen as a police officer in a Malayalam film alongside Mammooty.
Though Vemal is said to play a flirty character in IEMI, Mukesh vouches that the film does not have any sleazy content. Noted Kannada actress Sharmila Mandre is bankrolling the project. Anandharaj, Singampuli, Mansoor Ali Khan, Logesh, Vetrivel Raja are part of the supporting cast.
