Raju Murugan expresses regret for comments on Rajinikanth, Vijay

On receiving heavy backlash from fans of Thalaivar and Thalaiva, the director expressed his regret for poor choice of words.

National award winning filmmaker Raju Murugan was in the news recently for making comments on Rajinikanth and Vijay for their ‘Superstar’ and ‘Thalapathy’ titles. On receiving heavy backlash from fans of Thalaivar and Thalaiva, the director expressed his regret for poor choice of words while referring the two stars at the audio launch event of Mundhirikaadu.

While talking about the film’s lead hero Pugazh he said, “When there are people who have titles like Ilayathalapathy and Superstar, we must give him a title too. He deserves it”. This did not go down well with innumerable fans of both the leading stars who started trolling him.

The writer-director took to his social media handle to express the sentiment that Rajinikanth and Vijay have reached such great heights due to their sheer hard work and commitment and that the comments on them were passed in a lighter vein.
