DC Exclusive: Jyothika grooves to Jimmiki Kammal

The track was even enjoyed by American talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, whose name sounds much like it.

Looks like the makers of Kaatrin Mozhi, the Tamil remake of Vidya Balan’s Tumhari Sulu, are going all out to ensure that they have a winner on their hands. We hear that Jyothika and a group of friends will be seen grooving to Jimmki Kammal, the peppy Malayalam song that took the world by storm last year, for a party sequence in the film.

Cutting across language barriers, the song from Mohanlal’s film Velipadinte Pusthakam went viral and ended up becoming a youth anthem in 2017. Jimmiki Kammal’s catchy beats had everyone dancing to it at clubs, weddings and parties, both in India and overseas. The track was even enjoyed by American talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, whose name sounds much like it.

Now, the song will be brought back to life in Kaatrin Mozhi. Producer Dhananjeyan reveals that the dance sequence was shot just a few days ago.

“Yes, we have bought the official rights to the song and used it as is, as a Malayali number without remixing it. Director Radha Mohan was the one who suggested we use the song at a crucial moment in KM,” he says.

Radha Mohan adds, “I needed a popular song which would have an instant connect with the south, and the first one that came to my mind was Jimmiki Kammal. The sequence has Jyothika, who plays an RJ, celebrating her success by breaking into a dance as the song plays from a recorder. She is joined by her colleagues played by Lakshmi Manchu, Sandra, Sindhu Shyam, and Kumaravel. The song has been choreographed by Viji.”

Sources reveal that Jyothika seemed to have a great time grooving to the song along with Lakshmi Manchu during the shoot.
