Nitin Sathya pins hope on Pandigai
Actor-producer Nitin Sathya is beaming with confidence that his portrayal of Mundhiri settu in his upcoming film Pandigai, will earn him laurels. Pandigai, directed by Feroz, is produced by actress Vijayalakshmi, who acted as Nitin’s sister in the super hit flick Chennai 600028. Talking about this project, Nitin shares, “Feroz is a perfectionist and the care he takes to bring his characters alive on screen is magnificent. I sport a red hairdo and have put on a few kilos to fit the role. I could have easily asked for a wig, but the character impressed me a lot that I had to go all in. I coloured my hair and stayed in the same look for a year without signing any films.”
When asked about the shooting experience, he reveals, “After Raman Thediya Seethai, I struggled to dub for this film. The settu character has a particular slang that needs to be maintained throughout. Feroz pushed me to the core and I had to come out of my comfort zone. Acting in this film has given me the exposure and satisfaction.”
Nitin also explains that he was being stereotyped in the industry — “I started receiving similar roles. I have to admit that I am a selfish actor and sign those films that will earn me the ‘great performer’ tag. A film like Satham Podadhey gave me confidence and I wouldn’t mind doing a challenging role like that.”
The actor is also busy choosing scripts to bankroll under his home banner Friday Magic Entertainment. “Production is a step-up in my career. Hopefully, the film I’m funding will start rolling by the end of August. Acting is my passion and I would concentrate on both,” Nitin says, as he bids adieu.
