Chennai: Actor/producer Vishal scored an emphatic win over his rivals Radhakrishnan and Kayaar to become the new president of the Tamil Film Producers Council. In keenly contested polls for the council held at Kandasamy Naidu College in the city, Vishal won by a margin of 143 votes with the total number of votes polled being 1,059. Producer SR Prabhu from Vishal’s team was elected as the Treasurer beating rivals SA Chandrasekhar and Vijayamurali.
Talking to the press, a jubilant Vishal said, “Next two years will be the golden period of Tamil cinema. My victory has proved again the power of youth. We will take Tamil cinema forward”.
“The main priorities that will be addressed immediately would be farmer’s issue and producers demands. Also, piracy, which is eating away producers’ revenues, will be curbed. Change is the only thing which is constant”, he concluded.
