Actress Devanthi wins Mrs. India International 2019 title

The actress talks to DC of her challenging experiences taking part in beauty pageant.

Devanthi aka Inthu, hailing from London, quit her cushy job and started her career in films with Veerashekaran out of her passion for Tamil cinema. Having acted in several movies including Endrendrum Punnagai, Vennila Veedu, Ninaithadhu Yaaro and Kadhai Thiraikadhai Vasanam Direction and won accolades for her performance in Ammavin Kaipesi and in negative roles in many mega soaps like Ilavarasi, Mundhanai Mudichu and Mutthram, Devanthi has won the prestigious Mrs. India International 2019 title at a glitzy event that took place in Delhi last week.

The actress talks to DC of her challenging experiences taking part in beauty pageant. “I had also modelled for a few products. I relocated to Chennai to concentrate of films. One day an actress Priyadarshini came to my house for shooting. After seeing my enthusiasm, she asked if I am interested in attending a beauty pageant meant for 45-plus women. She said there is a group called Iris which would train the models and groom them for such contests. I said ‘yes’ though a bit apprehensively.”

She adds, “From among several participants we got shortlisted to 8 and then to 3 and finally I was crowned Mrs. India international. It was a very proud moment for me. These are like how the regular Miss India contests are being held in a grand manner. There were several rounds including a talent round where I danced for 2 minutes, a creative round where I painted my own saree and ramp walking. And finally there was the question round when I was asked if I am stranded alone on an island what are the three things I would look for and why?”

“It is not about your intelligence, it is about your presence of mind and quickness with which you reply, which qualify you for the winning zone, she explains. An excited Devathi signs off saying she has been chosen to represent India at the Mrs. Universe beauty pageant 2019 contest scheduled for June this year in Sri Lanka.
