\'Kutti\' Kamal\'s new venture

The action entertainer focuses on the subject of food adulteration and the terrible trade that goes around it.

The 40-year-old actor Siddharth has had quite a memorable tenure as a protagonist in Tamil cinema with several super hits to his credit. After returning to glory with the horror film Aval, the talented actor is all set to enthral Tamil viewers once again with Aruvam, a complete commercial entertainer.

“I have not attempted a full length commercial film before; it is definitely out of my comfort zone as I generally do experimental films, so I thought why not? This film has satisfied me and will do so to the audience,” says Siddharth.

Starring the gorgeous Catherine Tresa as the leading lady, the story of Aruvam revolves around a food safety officer and how he fights against the corrupt. Siddharth explains, “The way the director packaged the film with engaging and commercial elements was enchanting. I am someone, who usually believes in the concept - better the female characterisation, better the film would be. In this aspect, director Sai Suresh has written a substantial characterisation for Catherine Tresa.”

The action entertainer focuses on the subject of food adulteration and the terrible trade that goes around it. There is also a hidden horror element in the film which is kept under wraps. Meanwhile, the lead actress plays a character with, ironically, no sense of smell.

“My character has a disability of not having the sense of smell and this attracted me to the script instantly. The character with a low inferiority complex doesn’t feel happy about her life until she finds a purpose”, explains Catherine Tresa.

Actor Satish who addressed Siddarth as ‘Kutty Kamal’ says, “Be it performance or his outstanding knowledge about the technical panorama, he is always aware about it. I am sure, this film isn’t going to be a routine commercial entertainer but at the same time will have a deep impact on the audiences and make them think about the social issue that is prevailing today in our society.”

The film is written and directed by Sai Sekhar and also stars Kaali Venkat and Madhusudhan Rao, cinematographer Ekambaram in the lead as well. Produced by R. Ravindran of Trident Arts, the film’s music album is composed by SS Thaman. The movie is slated to release on October 11.
