Jiivi goes to Bollywood, Vetri elated
Actor Vetri, who debuted with blockbuster film 8 Thottakkal, where he played an honest cop, is in the limelight again. Yes, the young actor’s last Friday flick Jiivi where he plays a role in dire contrast to his first film has garnered lot of critical acclaim for its quirky script and excellent narration. Vetri’s performance has come in for appreciation especially his dialogue delivery. Yet another surprising factor was that akin to a big hero movie, Jiivi was given an early morning show in a few of the screens on the day of release in the city. An excited Vetri tells DC, “The first and foremost thing is the never-seen-or-never-heard-before concept that the script owned.
The response from the audiences was huge and they loved the fresh and unique elements the film carried – theme synchronicity. Thanks to my writer Babu Tamizh and director Gopinath who recounted without confusion.” He says writers are not given due respect in Tamil cinema. “It was fascinating when Babu sir narrated the script and when I watched the film it was all the more captivating. That was precisely due to Praveen sir’s crisp editing. The dialogues were edgy. There’s a dearth of good writers here.” He adds, “I learnt a lot on the sets of Jiivi. Seniors like Rohini madam left me speechless with outstanding performances. And my writer said that he kept only actor Karunakaran in mind for the crucial friend character Mani in the film.”
Apparently, his dad in his home banner Vetrivel Saravana Cinemas produced Vetri’s both films. “I am thrilled that we got an offer for Jiivi for its remake rights in Hindi.” Vetri has two films signed in his kitty, which he says are different genres.
