Kamal is not here for my birthday: Gautami Tadimalla
Actress Gautami Tadimalla is a woman of substance. On the occasion of her 48th birthday the actress is yet again pushing herself to start a foundation called Life Again, to bring in awareness about cancer and to save the victims affected by the disease.
The admirable initiative is founded by Gautami, Dr. Hyma Reddy (yoga expert) and Madras talkies co-producer Mala Maniyan — of which Gautami and Hyma are proud cancer survivors today.
Speaking about the organisation, the Papanasam star tells DC, “Life Again foundation was born out of a personal crusade to find a better way of living, so that we lead a healthier and a fulfilling life. The whole point of being born in this world is to experience life, now and forever. Through my experience and awareness, I realised that the issues we face today are all about the lifestyle we follow. I found several methodologies to overcome the negativity and it worked for me big time. I have actively been practicing this for almost seven years in my life and it is very effective.”
She goes on, “Positivity does have a healthy effect on our body along with the medicines. We are initially looking forward to pass on what cancer survivors have gone through to bring a change in the world. We are also taking measures to collaborate with several organisations and foundations to start a movement.”
Gautami’s dream is to push this cognisance into a movement eventually. She believes in the fact the people will have to come together to initiate a change, which cannot be brought about by a single person. This thought echoes in the motto of the Life Again foundation, which reads, ‘One for one, we are there for everyone’.
Currently, the team is looking at incorporating modules of yoga teaching and workshops. Their website and YouTube channel will be putting up cancer survivor stories to inspire the people of all kinds.
“We want to be a resource to the survivors as well as a reassurance and guidance for them. In the long run, we are planning to have mobile screening medical units, for which we have already started working. We would also like to bring this to educational institutions for gaining momentum,” she stated.
The actress, whose appearance belittles her age, is celebrating her birthday today — but says she is laid back when it comes to her special day. “My dear friends have planned something for me. As always, we have a family gathering with my mom (who is her inspiration when it comes to educating under-privileged children), and it will basically be a traditional affair.” When quizzed if Kamal Haasan has any plans for her birthday, she quickly says, “You’ve got to ask him that! But, I think he is not in the country. He is shooting for his film, Sabash Naidu in Los Angeles.”
Gautami, who is currently dubbing for the trilingual, Namadhu (in Tamil) also added that the flick would be a July release. So, what’s next? “I would love to do more work and I am really enjoying this stage of my life — taking one film after another. I’m totally content with life right now!”
