Real-life hero turns reel lead!
Virudhagiri, the panchayat head from a village in Cuddalore who won the Presidential Award for managing the village affairs effectively, is now debuting in a film titled Vridhachalam! Three actresses — Sherin Taha, Swetha and Sameera play the female leads.
Talking about why he chose Virudhagiri for the lead, debut director Rathan Ganapathy says, “The protagonist will have the look of a ruffian, but he has a heart of gold. I wanted someone fresh without an image trap. Virudhagiri had the right looks and his real-life personality is reflected in the character he plays”.
The film is about a manwho gets a 14-year jail sentence when he was young — for the crimes he committed inadvertently. When he is released, he loses his youth, mother and lover. Despite all odds, he wants to lead a clean and honest life. The problems he faces due to his righteousness forms the rest of the plot.
