A confident producer!
Vidharth has now joined the list of actors who have turned producers, such as Arya, Vishal, and Suriya. His debut production venture Kuttrame Thandanai, directed by Manikandan of Kakka Muttai fame and produced under the Don Productions banner by his brothers, has already made it to several international film festivals and has been critically acclaimed.
Vidharth, on cloud nine from the early success, spoke to DC about the movie.
“I heard Manikandan’s script after I decided to produce movies. I had watched his short film Wind, and it was very interesting... so I made my decision easily,” he says. About the story, he adds, “It is a thriller which runs for 1 hour 45 minuts, and revolves around seven characters including me, Pooja Devariya (in a de-glam role) Aishwarya Rajesh, Nasser, Rahman among others. Mani has tightly packed the narration.”
The Mynaa actor says that he plays a collection agent, dealing in repossession of money — “My character, named Ravichandran, has a slight eye sight problem. He witnesses a murder, and what follows is the rest of the story.”
Ilayaraja’s music is the highpoint of the movie, he reveals. “Manikandan was bent upon bringing Raja sir on board. There are no songs, but Raja has taken the movie to an all-new level with his background score,” he adds.
Talking about his experiences at London Film Festival he quips, “I re-lived my Koothu-P-Pattarai days. I was reminded of my stage days because of the live appreciation we got from the audience!”
The actor also adds that he has made a good film and was confident of continuing production in thefuture as well. The film, which is set to release on September 2, has already hot in trade as its Telugu remake rights have been sold and talks are on for the Hindi remake.
