Exclusive: Yet another 2.O in the making by Vikram Vedha producer!
Mumbai: Y Not Studios, known for their quirky subjects, is all geared up with a sequel to the 2010 blockbuster 'Tamizh Padam,' which is interestingly titled 'Tamizh Padam 2.O.' The first part spoofed contemporary films in Tamil cinema, mocking the stereotypes. Director CS Amudhan, who debuted with TP will wield the megaphone once again and Shiva, who gave a memorable performance as the lead hero, is being repeated for the part two as well.
When producer Sashikanth of Y Not Studios, who is basking in the success of 'Vikram Vedha' was contacted by DC, he was in all smiles. “Yes, we have started the pre-production work of the sequel to Tamizh Padam, which created a record in terms of collections as well as critical acclaim. Amudhan was doing the scripting work for the last one year. We were just waiting for Vikram Vedha to release to make an official announcement of the second part of TP.”
Why this title, which reminds of another big budget sci-fi film under production? Sashi replies, “This is also a spoof. You will know when you watch the film. And the very reason it raises curiosity among the audiences fulfills our purpose.
And if you have noticed, the first part had an open end.”
The rest of the cast is yet to be finalised, he adds. On the technical front, Kannan, who composed for the first part, has been roped in while Gopi is signed in as DOP, and Suresh as the editor.
