There’s a fresh buzz about actor-politician Kamal Haasan, who appears to be recentring his career back onto films. The rumour is that he is being considered for the primary antagonist’s role in Prabhas’ pan-India film, Project K, featuring Deepika Padukone as the female lead.
On Tuesday, social media was awash with reports that the film’s producer Ashwini Dutt had offered Kamal a jaw-dropping Rs 150 crore for the role.
There are also hints that Kamal had provisionally allotted a 20-day call sheet for the film, and intends to wrap it in a single stretch amidst his other commitments, including films and Bigg Boss Tamil –Season 7.
The cast of Project K, directed by Nag Ashwin of Mahanati fame, includes Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan, whose remuneration package was reportedly huge as well.
Currently, Kamal is working on the final stages of shooting Indian 2, directed by Shankar.
Following this, he is expected to star in KH 233, directed by H. Vinoth, before moving on to KH 234, under the direction of Mani Ratnam.
Attempts to reach Kamal Haasan’s office or the production house of Project K proved futile. One wonders if such news is created to keep the buzz about the film alive or with film budgets being huge these days, do filmmakers really want to spend that kind of money on stars?
