Ameer replaces Vijay Sethupathi
Director Vetrimaaran’s ambitious project, Vada Chennai, a gangster trilogy, has seen many changes in the cast. Earlier, it was Samantha who was supposed to play the female lead, but she was replaced by Amala Paul due to date clashes. Later Amala too opted out of the project and now, Aishwarya Rajesh has been brought in as the female lead opposite Dhanush.
When Dhanush announced that the maverick actor, Vijay Sethupathi, would be doing an extended cameo in the film, expectations skyrocketed. Since the film was delayed, he had to back out of Vada Chennai as well. Now, the makers have roped in director-actor Ameer as his replacement. “Vetrimaaran and his team felt that Ameer would be able to ace this role, which is significant to the story and thus chose him to be part of Vada Chennai. He is expected to join the shoot from the next schedule,” a source close to the team reveals.
Another source tells us that the third schedule is already underway — “The team took a small break after they wrapped up the second schedule. They resumed work in the city on May 29.”
Vada Chennai will chronicle 30 years in the life of a gangster essayed by Dhanush. Daniel Balaji and Samuthirakani have been roped in to play prominent roles.
