Christopher Nolan surprises Nammavar Kamal Haasan

The actor turned politician took to his social media handle to share his interaction with Nolan.

Kamal was surprised when ace Hollywood filmmaker Christopher Nolan told him that he had watched his Paapanasam. Nolan is in India for the event on ‘Reframing the Future of Film’ event in Mumbai.

The actor turned politician took to his social media handle to share his interaction with Nolan. “Met Mr. Christopher Nolan. Apologized for seeing Dunkirk in the digital format and in return I am sending Hey Ram in digital format for him to see. Was surprised to know he had seen Paapanaasam.”

‘Reframing the Future of Film’ is an event by the non-profit Film Heritage Foundation, which has organized it to discuss the importance of restoration of the ‘film format’. The cause is very close to Nolan’s heart as he has been a keen supporter of the ‘save film’ campaign which advocates films from becoming extinct because of the digital format.

Nolan continues to be amongst a handful of noted filmmakers who remain committed to shooting in the film format in the west despite the advent of digital technology. He is in India to attend the three-day summit along with his wife Emma Thomas.

Nolan has a huge fan following in India as well with his blockbusters like Inception, Memento, The Prestige, Interstellar and Dunkirk having done well here. Other popular celebs from south spotted at the event were cinematographers Santosh Sivan, who is currently working with Mani Ratnam on the multi-starrer Chekka Chivantha Vaanam and Ravi K Chandran.
