Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak experiences his great Rajini Moment'

Probably, he is the only film star in the globe who gets to host Prime Ministers at his house.

CHENNAI: Probably, he is the only film star in the globe who gets to host Prime Ministers at his house. Tamil film icon Rajinikanth on Friday demonstrated to the world yet again that his fan club transcends not just caste and creed but even boundaries. On Friday, the superstar played host to Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, who is in the city on an official visit, at his palatial bungalow in upscale Poes Garden and discussed his films, especially the latest Kabali which was shot in his guest’ country.

Najib Razak forgot that he was the Prime Minister of Malaysia during his 30-minute stay at the star’s residence. The visiting dignitary displayed extraordinary warmth when he met the Superstar for the first time and clicked numerous selfies on his high-end phone. Rajinikanth enjoys demi-god status among ethnic Tamils and Malays in Malaysia and the star’s latest flick “Kabali” was based on the life of the minority community in Malaysia and was completely shot there. Najib Razak is the first Prime Minister to have called on the star at his residence, while Narendra Modi had met him at his house before he became the premier.

Najib Razak’s ‘meeting his star’ moment did not end there. The Malaysian Prime Minister, who loves watching Indian movies during his leisure time and once confessed that Priyanka Chopra was his favourite actress, posted pictures of his “warm and friendly meeting” with Rajinikanth on Twitter and Facebook. “Just had a very warm n friendly meeting with Mr Rajinikanth the Tamil superstar at his home… Who doesn’t know @superstarrajini? Happy to meet the superstar in person today,” the Malaysian Prime Minister wrote on his Twitter page, posting two different pictures of his meeting with the Tamil star.

Clad in his trademark black shirt and trouser and sporting a white beard, Rajinikanth played the perfect host as he received Najib Razak at the portico of his residence and took him inside.
